Theatre as a topic, theatre as a social fact, theatre as a means of communication: three films selected for the fifth cycle of the gallery PLATO are used to supplement and comment on the festival NORMA.

While the Polish artist Grzegorz Sztwiertnia presents the history of Polish drama and theatre in his film composed of a series of performances, a German theatre director Christoph Schlingensief, in his efforts to build an opera house in Africa (Burkina Faso), attempts to present not only an intercultural dialogue but also to reflect the social, political, existential and grotesque aspects of such an undertaking. Margaret Magidová and Jan Pfeiffer in their footage of the project Persona Forte blur differences between theatre performance and an exhibition when the objects from the scenes become exhibited artefacts. At the same time, they serve to uphold the story for two actors, one voice and many literary characters.
